Winter Rice Meetings will go Virtual This Year

Due to COVID-19, many of the winter meetings for the rice industry will be held virtually this year.

Our Industry Calendar is a good resource for these meetings. Currently, the scheduled meetings include Corteva Virtual Rice Herbicide Seminars on February 3 and 10, and the University of California Cooperative Extension February 11. Please note, the UCCE Rice event requires advance registration and a $10 fee. More information and links to these events are available at our calendar section.

We will continue to update the industry calendar as more meetings are scheduled.

For more information, please contact CRC Communications Manager Jim Morris at jim.morris@calrice.org or (916) 205-5395.

Requirement to plant certified or QA seed

A reminder that all rice in California must be planted using certified seed or seed that has gone through a quality assurance program. This requirement is in place to reduce the spread of weedy rice (red rice) through the planting of contaminated seed, one of the major vectors for the pest. CCIA certifies seed for owned varieties and provides quality assurance programs for off patent varieties.
