Please take the time to respond to U.S. Department of Agriculture interviewers who may call to help you complete the Agricultural Resource Management Survey (ARMS), Rice Production Practices and Costs Report for 2021. We understand we’ve asked a lot from you in the past year but this information is vital to the work of the California Rice Commission for representing California rice growers’ interests in Washington, D.C. Although the UC Davis report is useful for working with California issues, the USDA report will provide continuity with previous USDA Rice Cost of Production Reports (typically done every six years).
In addition, the newest Rice Leadership Development Class will include grower Peter Rystrom of Butte County and Adam McCalister of Farmers’ Rice Cooperative.
Congratulations to all on these well-deserved honors!
The November Rice Leaf Newsletter from UC Cooperative Extension is just out. It contains several articles that may be of interest, including rice straw management during tight water supplies, information on rice seed, weedy rice, arthropod and disease updates.
