Office of GOBiz Further Delays Drought Relief Grant Applications

The Governor’s Office of Business and Economic Development (GOBiz) has announced a further delay in applications for the California Small Agricultural Business Drought Relief Grant Program. No firm date has been given for application availability. 

Despite ongoing discussions with agricultural stakeholders, the Administration has failed to respond in urgency, with the need for relief from the 2022 drought by providing access to the funding, which was approved in the state in July 2022.

A reminder that all rice in California must be planted using certified seed or seed that has gone through a quality assurance program. This requirement is in place to reduce the spread of weedy rice (red rice) through the planting of contaminated seed, one of the major vectors for the pest. CCIA certifies seed for owned varieties and provides quality assurance programs for off patent varieties.
